First team starts the new season successfully
MSV Düsseldorf – SC Düsseldorf-West 2:0 (0:0)
Our MSV Düsseldorf secured an important 2:0 home win against SC Düsseldorf-West on 18 August 2024. In a game that was initially not very attractive and remained goalless at half-time, the hosts were able to decide the match in their favour after improving their performance in the second half.
The first half was characterised by a lack of penetration on both sides. Neither MSV nor SC West were able to create any dangerous moves, meaning that the game was mainly played out in midfield, where MSV had a lot of possession without getting into the final attacking third. Scoring chances were few and far between and the spectators only saw a few exciting scenes. Both teams acted nervously and hardly had any goals worth mentioning. Consequently, the teams went into half-time with a disappointing 0:0.
MSV Düsseldorf came out of the half-time break much better. The team showed more commitment and tried to increase the pressure on the SC West defence. In the 78th minute, Ali Daour, who had just come on as a substitute, scored the redemptive 1:0 for MSV Düsseldorf following an assist from Samir Azirar. The goal brought a palpable sense of relief to the hosts and the game picked up pace.
But Daour was not finished yet. He was on hand again in the 84th minute to make the final decision. After an assist from Said Harouz, Daour made it 2:0 and left no doubt about MSV's victory. SC Düsseldorf-West scored another goal for offside, but there were no more dangerous attacks.
The victory brings our MSV the first important three points and strengthens the self-confidence for the upcoming tasks. Next Sunday at 15:15, the team will face HSV Langenfeld away from home.
